My high school was renamed in 1968 after Sun Zhongshan, who is commonly called Sun Yat-sen in English. The school was established in 1897 during the Japanese period and was named the First Girls’ Affiliated Japanese School of the Governor-General of Taiwan. Taiwan’s first female President, Tsai Ing-wen, is one of its famous alumni. My high school has a significant number of alumni in Silicon Valley.
